The Cyclehoop Education Fund 2026

The Cyclehoop Education Fund for 2026 is now live!

We’re thrilled to be launching the third Cyclehoop Education Fund and can’t wait to get stuck into your applications.

Whether you are a new or returning applicant, this guide will give you all the information you need to know about what the fund is, what makes a good submission, and where you can apply.

What is the Cyclehoop Education Fund?

The Cyclehoop Education Fund was created to promote the benefits of active travel and make cycling to school more accessible, convenient, and safe for students of all ages.

The fund is a grant initiative that gives schools across the United Kingdom the chance to win new cycle and scooter parking. The winning schools receive a site visit and expert guidance from the Cyclehoop team and brand-new parking solutions appropriate for their site including installation.

Our ambition with the fund is to help give young people the opportunity to cycle and scoot to school, build healthy travel habits and reduce car dependency. The benefits of active travel reach the wider community by creating cleaner air, less congestion and healthier population.

Since launching in 2024, we have been blown away by the number of submissions. This proves the demand for, and importance of, cycle and scooter parking for schools.

Key dates

• Applying: Applications are open until midnight 8/1/2027.

• Selection: Once all applications are in, a judging panel of industry experts will review them and pick the winning schools.

• Announcement: The winners will be announced in February.

• Assessment: Selected schools will participate in an assessment with the Cyclehoop team to determine the best location for their new cycle and scooter parking.

• Delivery and installation: Our Sales and Installation teams will then work with the schools to schedule the installation.

What is the judging criteria?

Applications will be judged on:

• Uptake: How many students are likely to use the parking and your school’s approach to increasing uptake e.g. student-led assemblies on the benefits of cycling, “Bike Breakfast” mornings where cyclists get free breakfast, posters displayed around the premises.

• Active travel promotion: What steps you are taking, or will take, to promote active travel among your students e.g. Bikeability courses for students, becoming a registered “school street”, creating a bike bus.

• Maintenance & Upkeep: Your plan for maintaining the cycle parking, ensuring students can use it for years to come e.g. parent volunteers to clean and organise the parking, student “guardians” who make sure the parking is looked after and used fairly.

• Sustainability focus: How you are teaching your students about sustainability and the importance of sustainable practices e.g. timetabled lessons on sustainability, keeping flower and/or vegetable garden on school premises.

What makes a good application?

One of the best things you can do in your application is to include data, the judging panel wants to see evidence of your actions. All data is valuable – Whether it shows the changing rate of students cycling over a specific time period, or how many students have asked for new cycle parking, make sure you include it in your application.

At the end of the application form, we have included the option to upload up to five documents or images. Upload anything you think strengthens your case.

This can include participation certificates from active travel schemes you take part in, photos of your existing cycle parking, or photos of a proposed location if your school were to win. If you think it helps tell your story, we want to see it.
