Overview
As a part of a passionate, enthusiastic and driven team, the Design Engineer will be involved in creating innovative and user-centric cycle parking products.
You will be responsible for leading product development projects and creating bespoke cycle parking layouts and structures.
The basic salary for this role is up to £33,000 per annum.
This role provides a clear progression path to the more senior role of Senior Design Engineer.
Main responsibilities:
- Ownership over product development projects, working closely with the Design team and other Cyclehoop stakeholders to design new products.
- Use CAD (Solidworks) to produce 3D models and detailed production drawings.
- Liaise with suppliers and manufacturers to discuss materials, production techniques and feasibility of production.
- Produce and test prototypes to evaluate designs.
- Produce product visualisations using rendering software (Keyshot) and the Adobe suite for product collateral.
- Produce technical product collateral including assembly & installation instructions, operation & maintenance manuals, specification sheets, and CAD blocks.
- Proactively evaluate and develop existing product range in response to market feedback and new manufacturing methods, materials, and technologies.
- Liaise with Sales department to produce 2D site layouts using AutoCAD. This may involve site visits.
- Be technical expert in product range and use knowledge to advise and train Cyclehoop stakeholders.
Required skills and experience
- Mechanical/Design Engineering degree.
- Experienced designing for metal fabrication.
- Experienced designing load bearing steel structures, e.g. agricultural buildings, industrial walkways, streetscape architecture.
- Experienced in AutoCAD LT or similar 2D drafting software.
- Experienced in Solidworks CAD software.
- Experienced in producing detailed production drawings.
