Every Sunday throughout July, Regents Street was transformed into a haven for shoppers and cyclists as they enjoyed a traffic free environment with the absence of the notorious ‘wall of buses’ which add to the dangerous levels of nitrogen dioxide in the area.
This was due to a month of street party events called ‘Summer Streets’ which is the first of its kind in the UK, originally inspired by the Mayor’s Air Quality Strategy.
Jessica Finch, events co-ordinator for Regent Street Association said “The aim of traffic free events is to encourage the public to walk, cycle or use public transport rather than travel in their cars around London.”
Cyclehoop provided Car Bike Ports for each Sunday which tied in with the event aims and objectives, pushing out the message 1 car space= 10 cycle parking spaces. Our friends from Havebike were also at the event providing free bike maintenance to visitors.
