We’re thrilled to announce that Hebden Royd School in West Yorkshire has been chosen to receive funding from the Cyclehoop Education Fund!
In the first year of this project, we were overwhelmed by the extraordinary response — 417 applications from schools across the UK. Schools that stood out to judges highlighted:
- Demonstrated need: Clear data and compelling evidence highlighted the urgent necessity of secure cycle parking for school communities.
- Commitment to active travel: Passion for fostering a culture of sustainable and active travel in applications.
- Proactive efforts: Awareness of the current challenges, paired with proactive initiatives to address them, demonstrating genuine commitment to positive change.
While 20 schools were shortlisted, Hebden Royd rose to the top with an inspiring vision for the future of active travel for their students.
The applications received underscored the pressing need for improved cycle parking in schools to pave the way for a sustainable future. As we tackle immediate challenges, such as limited parking and rising bike theft, we’re also building a foundation for the next generation of confident and active travelers.
We extend our heartfelt thanks to all applicants for their dedication to active travel. Every application was a reminder of the collective effort to create healthier, more sustainable communities. We look forward to expanding this fund in the coming years, keep your eyes peeled for the 2025 call for submissions in October.
Congratulations once again to Hebden Royd School for championing active travel and leading by example! More information and progress of Hebden Royd’s cycle parking to come!
