In summer 2026, Cyclehoop installed the milestone 500th Bikehangar for Camden Council. Now one of the largest residential cycle parking schemes in London, Camden have over 3000 secure spaces across the borough.
To mark the occasion, we paid a visit to the newly installed Hooplr Trips Bikehangars on Goods Way, near Kings Cross. We spoke with Councillor James Slater about what this means for Camden, and how the new Hooplr Trips on-demand Bikehangars help residents park their bikes securely at the destination end of the cycle journey.
The journey to 500 Bikehangars began in 2014. Following advocacy from Camden Cycling Campaign and engagement from Camden Council, we installed the first two Bikehangars on College Place. Since then, we have forged ahead, working with teams in Camden’s Transport Strategy Service to deliver tranches of installations to meet the growing demand in the borough.
We’ve already got 500 Cyclehoop Bikehangars in the borough, with another 100 on order. That sounds like a lot, but we’re struggling to keep up with demand, we’ve got circa 6500 people waiting for a space.

As a central London borough, the Bikehangar scheme is crucial to enable residents in flats and high-density streets to cycle, as often there is no convenient and secure space to park a bike.
Before I had my Bikehangar space, I didn’t have a bike. I was waiting for the space first, because I feel it’s not safe to leave your bike on the street.

As the borough’s secure cycle parking partner, Cyclehoop work closely with Camden at every step of the process, from planning locations, scheduling, installation and maintenance, all the way to managing the subscription process. Residents now benefit from the newly launched Hooplr platform, with self-service account management and flexible billing options.
In addition to 500 residential Bikehangars, Camden have also taken the step into secure cycle parking at the destination end of the cycle journey. With two Hooplr Trips Bikehangars at the newly redeveloped Coal Drops Yards, residents and cyclists from further afield can park their bike securely using the Hooplr app. The Bikehangars are connected to the C6 cycleway and situated close to workplaces, shops and attractions; ideal for helping people chose cycling for everyday transport.

There are many benefits to having Cyclehoop as our partner in the borough, meaning they maintain our cycle hangar stock, look at the waiting lists and ensure that residents can get a space as soon as possible.
