Sheffield Stands are a mainstay cycle parking product for public spaces, town centres and workplaces; any destination people cycle to. As bicycles increase in value, and bike locks increase in quality, the Sheffield Stand can become the point of failure during cycle thefts.
The SecurePro Sheffield Stand is reinforced to resist cutting without sacrificing intuitive usability. It is the only Sheffield Stand on the market to have been tested and accredited Sold Secure Powered Cycle Diamond, proving resilience against a range of cutting tools including angle grinders. If the tubing is cut on a traditional Sheffield Stand design, the stand can easily be bent to allow a lock to be released.
Other designs attempt to improve security with specific locking points, however these are not intuitive and cater only for a small portion of cycle types. They are not accessible for non-standard cycles and cargo bikes and are also prone to being blocked on one side, leaving the other side less secure.
The SecurePro Sheffield Stand maintains the same high level of security for the entire stand, making it accessible to all cycle types.
The SecurePro Sheffield Stand features 60mm tubing with 5mm thick walls, with central bracing tubes that create two closed locking zones. If a tube is cut, the closed zones prevent it from being bent, making it far more difficult and time consuming to release a lock than traditional designs. Unlike other designs, the SecurePro Sheffield stand maintains the same level of security regardless of which point the bike is locked to, making it suitable for a wide range of cycle types including cargo bikes and adapted cycles. The lower brace also functions as a tapper tube, making the installation site safer for people with visual impairments. This also complies with guidelines including the TfL London Cycling Design Standards.
Root fixed – The stand is set 300mm into the groundwork, in concrete pockets. The ends are crimped to prevent removal. This option is suitable for projects where the groundwork is being completed at the same time; surfacing or paving can then be laid flush with the tubing. Root fixed stands can be fitted to existing groundwork by digging 300 × 300 × 300mm concrete pockets.
Surface mount – The stand is bolted to the groundwork with expanding ground anchors or threaded rods and chemical adhesive. Shear nuts are used to prevent the stands being removed. Surface mounting is suitable for projects where the groundwork has already been completed. The groundwork must be robust and over 100mm deep.
