Job Vacancy – Business Development Executive

Overview

We are looking for an enthusiastic and experienced Business Development Executive. 

Our ideal candidate will love cycling and be sustainably minded. These interests will propel you to develop a deep understanding of our products and personal relationships with our ever-expanding construction client base. At Cyclehoop, our customer relationships are a top priority. We are looking for a hungry, dedicated and personable Business Development Executive to hunt and grow a portfolio of private sector accounts in construction.  

Salary: £40k basic plus bonus scheme

Main responsibilities:

  • Research and identify new live projects with architects.
  • Seek out the appropriate decision makers in an organisation.
  • Use Glenigan software for live project leads.
  • Generate leads and cold call prospective customers. 
  • Meet new and existing clients on-site to discuss new projects and future opportunities.
  • Foster and develop relationships with architects, large house builder companies, designers and contractors to generate repeat business as well as finding new opportunities. 
  • Understand the construction sales cycle and how to penetrate it.
  • Draw up client contracts.
  • Support bid-writing for contracts where appropriate.
  • Have a full understanding of the businesses’ products or services and be able to advise others about them. 
  • Work closely with the marketing department. 
  • Attend conferences and events to build your network and profile. 
  • Keep abreast of market trends.
  • Use CRM tools to manage your pipeline, plan visits, log activity, and report progress.
  • Manage accounts through regular contact, ensuring they receive a high standard of service.
  • Collaborate with other members of the team to discuss progress and find new ways to improve the business.  
  • Contribute information to sales strategies by assessing current product results, monitoring competitive products.
  • Be disciplined and highly motivated to achieve KPIs.
  • Be confident in communicating and negotiating clearly. 
  • Be honest and show integrity in your duties.

Required skills and experience 

  • A natural relationship-builder who thrives in a customer-facing sales environment. You’re self-driven, tech-savvy, and passionate about delivering intelligent, sustainable solutions.  
  • Excellent communication and influencing skills, at all levels.   
  • Stable background in B2B technical sales (ideally in the construction market). 
  • Have a good network.
  • Strong track record of meeting or exceeding ambitious targets. 
  • An understanding of the construction specification cycle. 
  • Experience using CRM software. 
  • Experience using MS Office applications. 
  • A passion for sustainability and cycling.
