Did you know that one car parking space can provide cycle parking for ten bicycles?
In 2015, Sustrans introduced a brand new “street kit” as a way of trialling temporary public parks and social spaces in London. This includes a modular temporary street furniture system that allows busy streets and parking spaces to be transformed into places for people who cycle and pedestrians.
To celebrate this, they held PARKing Day. PARKing Day is an annual event aiming to get citizens to rethink the way streets are used and promote discussion around the need for broad-based changes to urban infrastructure. This event also commemorated twenty years of the National Cycle Network.
Our Car Bike Port played a big part in this temporary install, sending out the message that ten bikes can fit into a one-car parking space.
