Cyclehoop have just installed its new ‘VeloRail’ stair ramp for bicycles at Velorution’s newly launched shop on 93 Great Portland Street, London. Simple and painted in an eye-catching green, it enables easy movement of bicycles up and down stairs as well creating an attractive new feature to compliment the modern design of the shop. An idea imported from Holland, we hope this new product will help London become a more cycle friendly city.
Velorution is a chic cycle shop and their new store is a spacious and modern design by Henny from StudioHVN. With their workshop in the basement customers and staff had to carry their bicycles up and down the staircase which can sometimes be difficult.
Cyclehoop were commissioned to design a solution to solve this problem. The VeloRail is a simple and elegant channel that could retrofit onto any existing staircase allowing users to easily wheel their bicycles up and down stairs.
Alex from Velorution said: “The ramp is a brilliantly simple idea and it looks great. It has made negotiating the stairs with a bike a piece of cake”
The stair rail could be applied to other bike shops, offices, railway stations and residential blocks wherever there is a need to negotiate stairs. This addition to our expanding range of products is another simple retrofit solution to help make London a more cycle friendly. We are currently in discussion with various businesses and public bodies to roll out this scheme across London.
Anthony Lau of Cyclehoop said “We are very pleased to work with Velorution to create the VeloRail and we hope this is the start of an exciting new trend to make buildings bicycle friendly. We at Cyclehoop make it our mission to focus on the critically important but often overlooked inconveniences and problems facing cyclists. By innovating our way past these issues we hope more people will take to their cities by bike.”
