London Cycling Campaign and Cyclehoop join forces to promote the Dutch Style Bikehangar scheme to London

London Cycling Campaign (LCC) and Cyclehoop have joined forces to launch a campaign to promote the Bikehangar scheme in London. Since launching the campaign the response has been overwhelming, with over 100 requests for Bikehangars within the first 24 hours.

Cyclehoop, design and manage the ‘Bikehangar’, an on-street secure cycle storage unit. Additionally, we have created an online rental portal, where London residents can search and apply for a bike parking space in a Bikehangar near them. If there are no Bikehangar’s installed in their borough, they have the option to fill out an online form to request for one to be installed on a street of their choice.

We are currently installing over 80 Bikehangars on residential roads across many London Boroughs, including Lambeth, Hackney, Lewisham, Haringey, Southwark, Islington and Camden.

LCC, a London based cycling charity, have been actively promoting the scheme to their 1200 members and supporters across London, newsletters have been created and sent to members’ inboxes encouraging them to request a Bikehangar near them by filling out an online form.

If you live in London and have little space to store your bike and do not have access to secure cycle storage, you can fill out a request form on either the Cyclehoop or LCC website. The scheme is demand driven so the higher the response received from residents, the more likely the local authority will be persuaded to install a Bikehangar in their Borough.
